"Unsung heroes: Hidden corners of the global postal service"

In celebration of 145 years of the UPU and the 50th celebration of the UN awareness day for the Post, World Post Day, the UPU is calling for participants from around the world to submit their best postal-related photos for the UPU’s 2020 calendar.

A UPU judging panel pre-select up to 25 finalists to be featured on the UPU’s social media accounts in September, where followers can then select their top 13 to be announced ahead of World Post Day (9 October 2019).

How to enter:

  1. Fill out the entry form here, including a caption about the photo and why the world needs the Post.
  2. Send the signed form (photo or PDF accepted) and a maximum of three photos to photocontest[at]upu.int by 17 September 2019.

Photo criteria

Photos must be:

  • high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi)
  • cropped as a square
  • submitted in JPEG or TIFF format
  • both black and white or colour photos will be accepted

Prizes:

The 13 winners will be featured on UPU’s social media platforms, in UPU’s Winter 2019 Union Postale magazine, and in UPU’s 2020 calendar. Winners will receive a complimentary copy of the Winter 2019 issue of Union Postale and the 2020 calendar shortly after publication.

Terms & conditions:

  • Entrants must be 18 years of age or older
  • The contest is open to individuals, designated postal operators and UPU staff
  • Each entrant, individual or organization, may only submit three photos
  • Entrant must hold all rights to the photograph(s) submitted to the contest and they must bear full responsibility for obtaining the consent of persons featured in the images
  • By entering the contest, entrants give the UPU non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries
  • Entries that do not respect the theme or terms and conditions of the competition will be disqualified
  • Photo contest staff and judges are disqualified from participating in the competition
  • All decisions are final
